We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Recruiter to join our talent acquisition team, with a specialized focus on hiring top-tier professionals for public heavy highway projects and private construction initiatives. This role requires a deep understanding of the construction industry’s unique demands, strong sourcing skills and the ability to manage the complete recruitment lifecycle—from initial candidate engagement and sourcing to successful on-boarding. This position is expected to develop a pipeline of subject matter experts in the field and assist with direct union hires to fulfill any job needs. This position is the primary recruiter for three companies within the construction industry. Knowledge and background of the construction industry is required for this position.
Essential Functions – The Core Responsibilities of this position:
Collaborate with Hiring Managers:
- Partner with project leads and department heads to define role requirements and candidate profiles specific to public heavy highway and private construction projects.
- Process intake partnerships for future budgeted roles as well as any positions needed filled based on
- Provide weekly updates to hiring managers and streamlined communications on talent sourcing to
Talent Sourcing & Attraction:
- Develop targeted recruitment strategies, including leveraging job boards, social media platforms, industry-specific networks and attending relevant job fairs and industry events.
- Build and maintain relationships with educational institutions, trade associations and industry organizations.
- Work with marketing to develop a recruiting brand that attracts a pipeline of talent within the construction industry.
Screening & Interviewing:
- Review resumes, conduct initial phone screens and coordinate detailed interviews with candidates.
- Evaluate candidate qualifications, experience and cultural fit for specialized roles within the heavy highway and construction sectors.
Candidate Relationship Management:
- Maintain a robust pipeline of qualified candidates.
- Provide a positive candidate experience throughout the recruitment process, ensuring regular communication and feedback.
- Teach, train, and mentor leadership on recruitment strategies and compliance.
Process Management:
- Manage the end-to-end recruitment process from sourcing to offer negotiation and onboarding in partnership with leadership as needed.
- Utilize Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) to document candidate interactions, track recruitment metrics and report progress to stakeholders.
Compliance & Best Practices:
- Ensure all recruitment practices comply with local, state, and federal employment laws and internal company policies.
- Continuously update and refine recruitment strategies based on industry trends and feedback.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration or three years industry experience in the construction field.
- 3- years’ of recruitment experience, preferably with exposure to the public heavy highway or private construction industry.
- Experience recruiting within multiple companies.
- In-depth understanding of regulatory requirements affecting the construction industry at local, state and federal levels.
- A well-established network within the public heavy highway and private construction sectors.
- Proven track record of successfully filling technical and specialized roles within the construction sector.
- Develop and maintain ongoing connections with union, labor, and construction associations.
- Experience recruiting in unionized environments or familiarity with union protocols.
- Strong knowledge of industry-specific roles and terminologies.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in using Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and HR Information Systems (HRIS).
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be able to work in high stress situations while maintaining professionalism.
